About

Navvab earned a first-class honors master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Babol University of Technology in 2011, with a thesis titled Time-Optimal Control of Redundant Manipulators and Mobile Robots. He then joined the Advanced Robotics Department at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) and received his Ph.D. in Robotics from the University of Genoa in April 2015, with a dissertation titled Control and Modeling of Compliant Joint Robots equipped with Variable Impedance Mechanisms. After completing his Ph.D., he continued his research at the Humanoid & Human Centered Mechatronics (HHCM) group, focusing on the mechatronics development and control of torque-controlled and modular robotic systems. He joined Leonardo as a senior research fellow of the joint lab with IIT in October 2021 and, since December 2023, has been leading the Robotics group of the Leonardo Innovation Labs as Principal Investigator.
